Simple Ways to Attract Art Collectors

Where are these wonderful art patrons who will regularly buy (and sometimes commission) your art? How do you meet them?

I think All artists agree  that" There’s nothing better than having collectors go crazy of your art.".When the stars align and you meet that person for whom your art resonates like no other, it could be a match made in heaven. But how do you find your perfect match who can resonate with your artworks?

Simply knowing who they are and how to reach them won’t guarantee that an art collector will want to buy your art. For the most part, most collectors won’t buy a piece of art just because an artist or art broker contacts them out of the blue. Most serious art collectors are über strategic in their purchases - They very thoughtfully construct collections that will prove to be sound investments. Seeking out works they anticipate to be profoundly important and that they would be proud to display in their homes and offices.
And although they may be narrow in their focus of what they’re willing to buy, most are comfortable buying from and taking recommendations from trusted sources, every art collector dreams of discovering the next  Andy Warhol on their own. They want to hold the distinction of being the first in their circles to have recognized and supported the next big thing. This is where you come in.
I heart my Art in it.

Define Your Goals

It takes some legwork, research and introspection to find solid art patrons who will stick by you and support your work. There are various types of collectors and you should spend time researching those collectors who support the medium and style of work that you do.
key to your success is laser in on which opportunities will help you get to the right people.

The Artist Statement
Patrons always want to know all about the personal lives, inspirations of the artists they support and creative process.
Don’t tell us how to feel or what to see, tell us how you make it, what makes it special and what it means to you. Have fun with it and tell us who you are and why you do what you do and people will be naturally attracted to the truth in your art and your uniqueness of self.
So go ahead and give your statement for your Art which you have inked with your heart in it.

Some of the following  things are essential to getting your work seen and landing faithful Collectors
1. Be active and smart in your business
Participate in open studios tours, hold regular shows, enter juried and non-juried exhibitions, do interviews, and cultivate a strong online presence; the more people that see your work repeatedly over time, the greater chance that art buyers will find out about you and that’s the launching point for a great relationship.

 2. Be social within your community
Attend art events, lectures and online discussion groups, share collective studio space, make yourself known and be consistent. Show up often and always be prepared by bringing your business cards, contact information and willingness to discuss your portfolio of work. Volunteer to work on an art patron’s philanthropic committee and help with their events. You may be able to donate your work as a silent auction piece (this is a great way to get on their radar).

 3. Be proactive about money
Consider grants, residencies and internships and focus on contacting and affiliating with organizations, non-profits and foundations whose mission statements mirror your work and purpose. They exist to help artists like you to be able to continue to create your unique art.

Above all "be your fascinating self".
