Phyllis Lim: an artist, a creative person and an art admirer

Phyllis Lim
Liverpool born ,Irish blood Quotes: Art is not about what you see, but about what you make others see.

Prey

According to Phyllis Lim art can enrich people’s lives, by freeing one’s imagination art can be liberating. As a true admirer of art she likes many artist for different reasons like: Picasso for his inventiveness and diversity, Kathe Kollwitz for the raw emotional honesty of her work, Michelangelo for the skill and the sublime beauty of her work.
Blood Tears

Lim loves the experience of visiting a new Gallery, she also loves the fact that twitter has opened up a world view of so many talented artists. Unlike other artists who have their favorite work: Lim believes that she loves all her latest work. She loves all her art, so when she sells her work she finds it difficult to part with her work. Her prime motivation for creating art is she loves art ,not just to make a living.

Cruelest cut

She thinks that the national lottery funding is a vital support for regional arts and culture as the capital will always be a priority for government funding. She is a member of an artist’s collective; together they put on exhibitions and promote arts and culture locally. Fitness mantra or refreshing mantra for her is walking, yoga, dancing, reading and watching films.
For Lim a piece of art is a successful attempt to externalize and express an idea, thought or emotion through a visual object. Be true to yourself and believe in your work: are her inspiring words for others.

Freedom in her hands

Due to the fact that she completed her fine art degree as a mature student, with family commitments, anytime she spends creating her art is very precious to her. The subject of her work is related to issues effecting women. She usually starts with an idea, then the image will come to her mind and this will develop and change as the work progresses. She takes part in group exhibitions at a local gallery on a regular basis, and she will be exhibiting at an arts festival in August 2014.
